Climate Smart Cup 2018
Blackford Elementary students with Q, the SJ Earthquakes mascot
The Climate Smart Cup is a competition for San José elementary and middle schools to conserve energy at school. The winning elementary and middle schools will receive the Climate Smart Cup, presented at a special visit to the winning schools by a San Jose Earthquakes player or their mascot, ‘Q’!

The Climate Smart Cup will be partnering with Energize Schools Energy Conservation Competition, a state-wide competition that will offer up to $1,200 in cash prizes for schools with the most energy savings and most creative campaigns.

The 3-week competition will be from October 24th to November 13, 2018.

San José-based elementary and middle schools who wish to participate in the Climate Smart Cup will register and take part in the Energize Schools Energy Conservation Competition.

Our partners will provide planning and in-class instruction support to participants. Participating San José schools will be entered in both the state-wide competition and the Climate Smart Cup.

The Climate Smart Cup will introduce San José schools to our new Climate Smart San José initiative, a bold plan to reduce greenhouse gas emissions related to energy and mobility (transportation and land use) and ensure a long-term water supply.

How to participate:
If you would like to participate in the Climate Smart Cup, please register on the Energize Schools Energy Competition website by Monday, October 8.
