Garden Spots: Become a Garden Steward!
Community members are invited to garden in the park! A Garden Spot is a small area in a City of San Jose park, where residents register to plant and maintain a flower garden.

Today, lives are busy and stressful. Gardening provides a relaxing and meditative opportunity to work the earth, plant seeds and see amazing results! Friends and neighbors can come together to watch and admire how plants of various colors, textures and sizes, create a place of peace and rest. Garden Spots can be individual projects or a community adventure. The end goal is to generate healthy plants that stimulate our senses, as well as our sense of pride in our community!

Gardening is a popular hobby for people of all ages. City parks are filled with planter boxes, barren dirt plots and other defined gardening locations. When these areas are planted and infused with native flowers, succulents and/or other drought-tolerant plants, the park is more welcoming and attractive!

Registration to become a Garden Steward is the first step, in order to secure your Garden Spot at your favorite park. Once accepted, a landscape design is submitted to the parks department for approval. Then, the Garden Steward works with city staff to create a beautiful and intriguing landscape!

Garden Spots offer San Jose residents an opportunity to grow with their local park!
