The Candidate Physical Ability Test (CPAT) will be used for the physical ability portion of the testing process. Candidates will have the option to take the CPAT directly from NTN or provide NTN with proof of successful completion of the test from another agency. Information regarding the CPAT is available at http://cpatonline.org.
Upon completion of the entry level exam and CPAT testing, all candidate scores are automatically forwarded to the City of San José. Candidates who attain a passing score on both the entry level exam and the physical abilities test will be placed in the qualified candidate group for Firefighter Recruit. The City of San José will contact candidates in the qualified candidate group and will invite them to continue to participate in other stages of the selection process.
National Testing Network is a service provided to conduct entry level testing and CPAT testing in a standardized, professional environment. National Testing Network does not replace the City of San Jose responsibility and decision making in the testing process. All candidate results are provided to the City of San José where the final decisions are made.
Please Note: Candidates must apply through the NTN website. Hard copy applications will not be accepted. Applications will not be accepted by the San José Fire Department or the City of San Jose.
Candidates will have until Friday, April 25, 2014 to complete the application and written testing process.
