Can I volunteer for more than one role? Unfortunately the answer is no. Please apply only to ONE role that you are most interested and experienced.
Not Directly Working With Animals
Previous animal experience not required. For all roles, volunteering must be done on-site at the shelter. Training for these roles is generally offered on-demand as needed.

Working With Animals
Special Requirements:
- Previous animal experience required.
- You must already be confident, comfortable and capable of independently interacting with animals properly and safely.
- You must have a strong understanding of animal body language.
- You must be able to bend, crouch and kneel to ensure safe access to kennel entrances.
Applicants should expect 4-10 hours of training total. This involves instruction shelter procedures and how to work with our adoptable animals. Applicants must pass written and practical exams. Training for dog and cat volunteer roles are generally offered monthly. Training for the vet clinic assistant role is generally offered on-demand as needed.

| Small Animals |

| Vet Clinic Assistant |
Animal experience required. Main tasks include assisting with anesthesia, prep, and recovery of surgery patients. Also includes instrument cleaning and preparation, cleaning and restocking, and computer data entry. Volunteers are required to attend their assigned their 4-hour weekday shift. After your application is submitted, you will be contacted when openings are available. |
