About Measure C - Initiative on Medical Marijuana on the June 7, 2016 San José Ballot

Measure C was a citizens’ initiative on the June 7, 2016 ballot in the City of San José. If passed, the Measure C would have replaced the City’s current medical marijuana program with a program outlined in the initiative.

In 2014, an organization called Sensible San José gathered 25,360 signatures (6.2% of voters) to qualify an initiative for the San José ballot.
When signatures are verified, City Council has two options:
  • Adopt the initiative outright as written
  • Send the initiative to the voters to decide

The City Council voted to place the initiative on the ballot for this June 7, 2016.
