Rebuilding For Heroes

The Rebuilding for Heroes Program is a veterans housing incentive program that provides funds to owners of market-rate apartments to make construction improvements to their properties in exchange for accepting formerly homeless veterans as tenants.  Owners of single-family rental properties can also participate in the incentive program.

Shared Housing/Single-Family Grant Program
offers financial assistance for housing repairs and improvements to single-family rental property owners interested in renting their homes/rooms to homeless veterans.  Eligible applicants may qualify for a grant of up to $5,000 for basic repairs or improvements to the property.

Basic Needs Loan Program offers financial assistance for repairs and/or improvements to apartment owners interested in renting one or more apartment units to house homeless veterans.  Eligible applicants may qualify for up to $10,000 in repairs and/or improvements to the property.

Greater Needs Apartment Loan Program offers financial assistance for essential repairs, basic improvements, and capital upgrades to apartment owners interested in renting one or more apartment units to house homeless veterans.  Eligible applicants may qualify for up to $200,000.

Tenant Placement - The Rebuilding For Heroes Program is operated in collaboration with Destination: Home and the All the Way Home Campaign to end veteran homelessness.  City staff will connect owners with Destination: Home at application approval to begin the tenant selection process.
