Armando Gomez was born in San Jose and raised in nearby Milpitas. He has served in Chuck Reed’s City Council office as a Policy Analyst since November 2000 and as Chief of Staff serving as an advisor on budget, transportation, and land use issues.
Prior to his tenure in the District Four Council Office, Armando served as budget analyst for the operations division of the San José International Airport. Between 1997 and 1999, Armando served the San Francisco Ethics Commission and the San Francisco Board of Supervisor’s Budget Analyst’s office. At the Ethics Commission, Gomez assisted with the development of the City and County of San Francisco’s Campaign Finance Audit Program, audited campaign committees for compliance with state and local laws, and developed an online filing system for campaign committees.
Armando also serves as a City Councilman for the City of Milpitas, a position he was elected to in 2002 and re-elected in 2006. He was appointed Vice Mayor by his colleagues in 2004. Armando has served on numerous committees including the Finance, Transportation and City/School Subcommittees. With a dedication to open and transparent government and a belief that what gets watched gets done, Armando personally drafted an Open Government Ordinance. Armando also has promoted an economic development strategy focused on building from the city's strengths; investing in all of Milpitas’ people; and improving the quality of life for the people who live and work in the City.
Armando graduated from Santa Clara University with a Bachelors Degree in Political Science. He and his wife Bernadette live in Milpitas with their two sons. |
