2012 Summit Workshops
- Community Gang Awareness
This updated one hour interactive session will teach participants how to implement specific actions and programs to help them realize cleaner, safer, and more engaged neighborhoods. Participants will gain a “tool box” of strategies and will provide them with examples of how other neighborhood leaders have successfully transformed their communities as well as inspire them to do the same. These strategies are designed to empower residents to take a lead role in implementing and organizing efforts to help transform and improve their neighborhoods.
- Santa Clara County Reentry Network
This training will provide an overview on gangs in the City of San José. It will be lead by Probation Officer Raul Torres, Supervisor of the Santa Clara County Juvenile Probation Gang Unit, and Bernie Rosales, Community Coordinator for the City of San José Safe School Campus Initiative. This introductory workshop will help participants learn about common gang indicators, motivators to join gangs, and the impacts of living in a gang.
- Working Together for Cleaner, Safer and More Engaged Communities
This workshop will bring you up-to-date on the latest efforts by the County and its partners to successfully return incarcerated adults and youth to the community. Find out about services and new models for delivering resources in the jail and in the community. Information will be provided about the strategies and programs designed to hold our juvenile offenders accountable and rehabilitate them in the community with their families. Also, the workshop will highlight the significant changes to the local jail and probation supervision system.
