Mayor Reed kicked-off a back-to-school safety event at Cureton Elementary School in the Alum Rock Unified School District. There, he talked about the need for students and parents alike to follow all traffic safety rules, especially when traveling in school zones. The event also showcased the city’s first
plug-in hybrid, which has been assigned to Parking & Traffic Control Officers that patrol school zones, as well as the first school-site, electric vehicle charging station in the country.
