FAQ CommUnity Resource Fair 2008

What is the CommUnity Resource Fair and how long has it been going on?

The Seventh Annual Community Resource Fairis a FREE event and was created to bring valuable local organizations and resources together to serve as a platform where people can obtain information and learn about what assistance is available to the community through departments in the City of San José, the County of Santa Clara, and local non-profit organizations in their area.

This event will be informative and fun for residents of all ages, ethnic groups and backgrounds. The Resource Fair is scheduled for Sunday, June 29, 2008, from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m at History San José/ Kelley Park, 1650 Senter Road, San José CA 95122.  . 

Who’s involved in putting the Resource Fair together?

The Mayor’s Office takes the lead on organizing the event; however we have the support from the entire San Jose City Council, the City Manager’s Office, and sponsoring non- profits and private companies.

What are some of the resources that will be available to the community?

Resources from the City of San José include infromation from the Housing Department, Police Department, Code Enforcement, and Department of Transportation. Santa Clara County Services include the Registrar of Voters, Immigration & Naturalization, and Maternal & Child Health Program. Non Profits include Neighborhood Housing Services, Second Harvest Food Bank, AACI, Asian Law Alliance, Tooth Mobile, and much more…

Will there be cost to attend the event?

The CommUnity Resource Fair is FREE to all attendees. There is a $6 dollar charge for parking lots close to the event, but further parking lots and street parking will be free. Community members are encouraged to take public transit or ride a bike to the fair.

Additionally, the first 2,000 people will get a ticket for a free hotdog.  Water will also be provided FREE at the event, and there will be many FREE raffle prizes given out.

What types of family Activities/Entertainment will be at the event?

Entertainment will be provided by Tuan Vu, Manuel Romero Jr. & Mariachi Tequila, San Jose Taiko, Lion Dance – Joy Ying Lion Dance Group, Martial Arts Demonstrations, Aztec Dancers, Children’s Bounce House, S.J. Sharkie and much more…
