Public Areas of the Facility

Public areas include reservable public meeting rooms, a one-start Customer Service Center occupying several levels of the tower, the Rotunda and the City Council Chambers.

One-Start Customer Service Center

The Customer Service Center design provides for efficient customer service by various City departments sharing a large public counter on the first level of the tower. A customer information desk, self-help areas, comfortable waiting areas, and a centralized cashier are also included at the first level. A clear arrangement of public counter space is situated for close access to conference rooms for detailed discussion between City staff and public clients. Development Services extends the customer service center onto the second and third floors.

Rotunda

The Rotunda design was developed to maximize natural lighting and enhance the architectural quality of this major public space. Envisioned to provide space for large public speaking venues such as the State of the City Address, special occasions and formal affair events, the Rotunda is designed to spill out onto the plaza and will add to the downtown event space.

Council Chambers

The Council Chambers incorporates various features designed to maximize public access and participation, facilitate use of modern audio-visual capabilities, and allow Council Members and City staff to conduct business efficiently. A sloped floor enhances visibility for the audience, while maintaining accessible seating areas for individuals with disabilities at the rear and front of the space. The locations of the dais, speaker's podium, and City staff seating have been positioned for optimum sight lines, circulation, and ease of use.

Parking and Transportation

The on-site underground parking garage, accessible from 6th Street, contains 300 public parking spaces for visitors conducting business at City Hall. The offsite parking garage at 4th/5th Street will accommodate employees and other parking. The existing light rail line has stops three and four blocks away on First Street (northbound) and on Second Street (southbound) respectively on Santa Clara Street. A bus stop is one block away.
