San José was known as the Valley of Heart's Delight for it abundant agricultural production in the 19 th and 20 th centuries - from canning to winemaking to fruit trees and prune production. In this float, a woman in a stylized canning smock stands atop a column patterned with apricots that were an important part of San José's agricultural economy.
