Environmental Review
As required by the California Environmental Quality Act (CEQA), passed by the California Legislature in 1970, the City of San Jose conducts environmental review of public and private projects before they are heard for approval. The environmental documents produced by the City are provided to both
decision makers and the public for their consideration and comment. These environmental documents include Environmental Impact Reports (EIR's) and Negative Declarations (ND's). The City's Environmental Clearance Ordinance, Title 21 of the Municipal Code, and City Attorney's Memorandum dated 12/5/06 specifies exactly how environmental review is carried out in San Jose.
Included within these webpages are environmental documents (EIR's and ND's) that have been produced by the city, an overview of the environmental review process, and links to other relevant sites. Please use the links shown in the right column to access these pages.
