- Hearing Dates in 2008 for General Plan Amendments
Spring (April/May) General Plan Hearing
The City Council Rules and Open Government Committee has scheduled the Spring General Plan Hearing for the evenings of April 22, 2008, May 6, 2008 and May 20, 2008. The Planning Commission hearing dates for the Spring General Plan Hearing are Wednesday March 26, Wednesday April 9, and Monday April 21, 2008. This hearing will constitute the City’s annual review of the General Plan and as such includes General Plan amendments that may involve the conversion of employment land to non-employment uses, or involve modifications to the Urban Growth Boundary, or involve expansion of the Urban Service Area.
Fall General Plan Hearing
A second General Plan Hearing is tentatively scheduled for the Fall of 2008. This Hearing will be limited to consideration of General Plan amendments that do not involve the conversion of employment land to non-employment uses, do not involve modifications to the Urban Growth Boundary, or do not involve expansion of the Urban Service Area.

- Housing Element Update 2007-2014
The City of San Jose is currently preparing an update to the Housing Element focusing on housing needs for the period between January 1, 2007 through June 30, 2014. This Housing Element Update will serve as a starting point for developing the housing goals and policies for the Envision San Jose 2040 General Plan Update.
