Status of San Jose 2020 General Plan
On November 1, 2011, the City Council adopted a comprehensive General Plan update of San Jose's General Plan, called the Envision San Jose 2040 General Plan. Following adoption of this new plan, which became effective on December 1, 2011, development proposals and other project applications will be reviewed for consistency with the Envision San Jose 2040 General Plan in order to implement its goals and policies. Requests to amend the City's General Plan will be based upon the Envision San Jose 2040 General Plan, which establishes an annual General Plan review process that would commence in 2013. The full text of the Envision San Jose 2040 General Plan, the Envision General Plan Land Use Diagram, and related information are available here.
