Envision San José 2040
The San Jose General Plan Update

Read What People are Saying / Community Meeting Results

The section below, “What People Are Saying” displays the hundreds of comments received at the series of over 20 early community outreach meetings held during March and April.  Some common themes have emerged. The elements that people like about San José and want to protect and perpetuate include: open space and undeveloped hillsides, a big city with the feel of a small town of great neighborhoods, lots of new parks and community centers, a safe community and active and involved community residents.

Community members also have a lot of ideas for changes to improve our City over the next 20 to 30 years: expand parks and playfields, expand public transit options, create more community places for social and cultural gatherings, expand services for the aging population, improve pedestrian and bicycle facilities, expand public art, create a more environment-friendly community, protect existing neighborhoods from new development and encourage green building.

These and many other issues will be discussed during the process to update the City's General Plan. Click on “Tell Us What You Think” and add your own ideas!
