The Neighborhood Academy was established by the Neighborhood Development Center (NDC) due to the growing demand by San José residents seeking knowledge on how to improve their neighborhoods. The Academy features three units (4 sessions each) in English and in Spanish. These sessions are designed to supply residents with information essential to better access City services, become neighborhood leaders, and provide resources in the areas of neighborhood development and safety.

Additionally, the NDC also offers Leadership Development and Neighborhood Organizing Trainings. These trainings include various topics such as organizing communities, creating newsletters, using various computer programs, grant writing, fundraising, and other trainings as requested. The Leadership Development Trainings are a concerted effort to meet the personal and professional needs of City staff and Community Leaders.
