Programs for older (age 50+) citizens are offered at the Camden and Kirk centers. Camden Community Center (3369 Union Ave.) offers exercise, dance, and enrichment classes. The former Kirk school is the site for a weekday lunch program, social clubs and interest groups, adult education classes and other classes, special events, trips, and free services. Kirk is a warm, welcoming environment with a friendly energetic staff! Come visit our office in Room 18.

Spring Orchestra Concert
Join our very own Pat Isham and her 26- piece Metropolitan String Orchestra for their annual Spring Orchestra Concert on Wednesday, May 21st at 3:00 p.m. at Kirk. If you are a classical music aficionado, this glorious treat is not to be missed! All are welcome! Bring a friend!
Wildflowers at Kirk
Our beautiful wildflower garden is in bloom with Poppies, Godetia, Love-in-the-Mist, and Alyssum, among many others. Contributions of drought-tolerant seeds are always welcome!

Kirk Café Special Events

Mary Kay and her nutrition volunteers are hosting two special luncheons this month. Remember, there is a $2.00 suggested donation for those 60 and older and you must reserve your spot in advance. Call 448-9591 to make a reservation..

Taco Bar Luncheon
Monday, May 5th at 12:00 noon. Taco Bar Lunch in honor of Cinco de Mayo.
Enjoy making your own tacos along with a meal of Spanish rice, refried beans and dessert.

Mother's Day Tea Celebration
Monday, May 12th at 12:00 noon. Special event to honor the ladies of Kirk. Enjoy Quiche, elegant sandwiches, Waldorf salad, cookies, and tea.

“Portraits of the Past” Luncheon
Tickets are on sale now!

The Kirk Senior Advisory Council hosts this special luncheon and historic fashion show on Friday, May 23, 2008 at Camden Community Center. Meet the historical figures who shaped the Santa Clara Valley and enjoy beautiful period costumes as important moments in history are re-enacted right before your eyes.
Menu: Chicken Almondine with
Bow Tie Pasta, salad, roll and dessert. (Members $8, non-members $10) This catered luncheon is being subsidized in part by the Kirk Senior Advisory Council.

New Walking Club at Kirk!

Spring is here, the weather is beautiful and it is time to get out of house and get walking! The Kirk Senior Program is joining with AARP and the NRPA to sponsor a ten week walking program here at our beautiful Kirk Park. Walk with our group, walk with a partner or walk individually at home — any way you want to do it! We will give each walker their own pedometer to keep track of their steps. We'll start the walking group on Monday mornings at 10:00 a.m. beginning on May 19th.
Meet in the Kirk Courtyard.

The Kick-off event for the Kirk Walking Program will be held on May 16th at the Health Walk at Kelly Park (Details). Call the office to put your name on the list if you would like to join us!

Speaker: WWI and Bay Area Coastal Defenses

On Weds, May 28th, 10:30—12:00 noon. Warren Riley, of the National Park Service will be presenting a discussion of the coastal defenses of San Francisco with emphasis on the period from 1915 to 1970. Some experts have said that the forts around the bay constitute one of the best and most extensive museums of military architecture to be found in North America. Free to All!
