San José B.E.S.T.

The Bringing Everyone's Strengths Together Program

The San José B.E.S.T. (Bringing Everyone’s Strengths Together) Program, as the funding component of the Mayor’s Gang Prevention task Force (MGPTF), provides funding to public and non-profit agencies to implement gang prevention, intervention, and suppression programs for youth exhibiting high-risk behaviors and their families. To lean more information in regards to MGPTF Technical Team please click here

The San José BEST program is implemented through a triennial Grant Application process that identifies agencies whose capabilities to provide services match the needs identified by San José residents.  Qualified service providers are identified and placed on an eligible service provider list which will be used to establish a match between the services outlined in the Allocation Plan and the appropriate providers.  The current Eligible Service Provider List was established based on the results of the previous Grant Application process, released May 5, 2010, and will be used for fiscal years 2010-2011, 2011-2012 and 2012-2013.

The San José BEST program is guided by the The Mayor’s Gang Prevention Task Force Strategic Work Plan 2008-2011 entitled “Action Collaboration Transformation (ACT)” click here to view Strategic Work Plan. Eligible Services that are considered for funding are defined as those demonstrating alignment with the goals and principles of the MGPTF Strategic Workplan In 2010-2011, the San José BEST program has provided a total of 2.4 million dollars to service providers whose services fall within one or more of the following Eligible Services
