Recreation Programs for youth and teens with cognitive or physical disabilities
Adapted Bowling
This bowling class is designed for individuals with disabilities ages 11 years and older. Sportsmanship, teamwork, and individual skills are taught for all levels of bowlers. Food may be provided at special events. Staff ratio is approximately 1 staff for every 10 participants.

Afterschool Fun
An afterschool play program designed for children with developmental disabilities including those with Autism Spectrum Disorders. The class includes homework help, music, games, arts & crafts, movement activities, and more. Food will be provided for all cooking projects. Children should bring a snack to class each day.

Wheels on Fire
Wheels on Fire is a sports team designed for athletes of all ages with physical disabilities. A variety of sports are offered. Emphasis is on basic sport skills, team cooperation, and rules of competitive play. Non-wheelchair users of all ages and levels are welcome. Food may be provided at special events. Staff ratio is approximately 1 staff to every 4 participants.

Powersoccer
Join the “San José Steamrollers” in the electrifying and growing sport of powersoccer. Practices focus on basic skills, strategy, ball control, and teamwork. Opportunities to participate in tournaments are available. Open to persons using power wheelchairs.

Boccia
This is how we roll! boccia is a growing sport in the Paralympic movement. Come learn the basic rules and skills involved in the sport. This program encourages participation for individuals of all abilities.

Fun For All (formerly Kinderfun)
A play program for children ages 5-11 with developmental disabilities including Autism Spectrum Disorders (ASD). The class includes music, games, arts and crafts, movement activities, and field trips. Participants should bring a sack lunch each day. Staff ratio is approximately 1 staff to every 2 participants.

Hip Hop Dance
Come learn some hip hop dance moves! This class will have great music, a great instructor, and great friends. Staff will be on hand to assist individuals who need it. Please wear comfortable clothes and bring a water bottle to class. Staff ratio is approximately 1 staff for every 8 participants.

Simply Cooking
This introductory course for teens (16+) and adults with developmental disabilities covers Kitchen safety, menu planning, and preparing of simple dishes. Class includes lecture, observation, and hands on skills. Class is conducted in a teaching kitchen which utilizes gas burners. Staff ratio is 4 to 1.

Teen Social Club
Why sit at home when you could be hanging out at a teen center near you? Play pool, air hockey, foosball, video games and more. Hang out with friends old and new. We'll also do some arts and crafts, some other special events, and possibly a field trip or two. Staff ratio is approximately 1 staff for every 5 participants.

Line Dancing
This class is for beginners to Intermediate. Learn easy choreographed dance steps to the tunes of your favorite music. No dance experience is necessary to enjoy this wonderful class! Line dancing is a wonderful way to have fun and stay fit!

Playcamp
These day camps are designed for children with cognitive disabilities who need a higher level of staff assistance for participation including those with Autism Spectrum Disorders. Staff ratio is approximately 1 to 2. Activities include arts and crafts, games, circle time and at least one field trip. Camps are held during the winter holiday season and during the summer.

Teen Camp
These seasonal day camps are designed for teens with cognitive disabilities. Come hang out with your friends at the Teen Center. We will have a wide variety of cool structured activities for teens. We'll also do some arts and crafts, some other special events and maybe a fieldtrip too! Camps are held during the winter holiday season and during the summer. Staff ratio is approximately 1 to 5.

Diabetes Camps
These week long day camps are offered each summer. Children with diabetes ages 5-13 will participate in camp games, arts and crafts, and field trips. Nurses and Nutritionists provide daily teaching sessions on topics related to disease management and diet. Contact Donna Hepp at 408-369-6446 for more details.

Northern California Junior Sports Camp
This annual camp for youth with physical disabilities is held each summer at San Jose State University. The camp offers introductory and intermediate instruction in both recreational and competitive wheelchair sports opportunities for individuals ages 5 to 21. Sports are taught by world-class wheelchair athletes. Sports include archery, athletics, aquatics, basketball, boccia, bowling, football, rugby, scuba, sled hockey, water skiing and more.
