Geotechnical
Services |
The MTL utilizes a CME 55 drill rig to provide both
pavement design services and subsurface investigations
up to 150’ below the existing grade. The drill
rig is capable of penetrating Portland cement concrete,
asphalt concrete, soils, aggregates, and native rock
formations. The MTL also utilizes a Dynaflect machine
and a state-of-the-art Falling Weight Deflectometer
(FWD) for non-destructive pavement deflection testing
and evaluation. Both methods are used to create pavement
overlay designs, maintenance strategies, and rehabilitation
recommendations in accordance with Caltrans procedures.
