  Pipe Inspection


The MTL’s experienced pipe inspectors ensure that pipe used in City projects conforms to project and City specifications. Pipe is inspected and tested at the plant to check for defects in fabrication. At the project site, MTL inspectors examine pipe to ensure it is the correct type, and has not been damaged in transit.

Pipe Yard

At the Plant:
  • Inspect rebar placement
  • Check core test for pipe wall thickness, rebar location and voids
  • Visually inspect for damaged pipe
  • Witness test the following:
      
- D-Load Test
       - Hydrostatic Pressure Test
       - Absorption Capacity

In the Field:
   • Inspect for Damaged Pipe
   • Verify Class of Pipe


Pipe reinforcing


In the Office:

   • Review Certificates of Compliance
   • Review Suppliers Quality Control Records
