Calvin has a B.S. degree in Civil Engineering and an M.S. degree in Environmental Engineering from Stanford University, and is a licensed Civil Engineer in the state of California. Prior to working for the City, he worked as an engineering consultant, specializing in wastewater collection and treatment process design and soil remediation. Calvin began his career with the City of San Jose in 1987 and has served in the Streets and Traffic Dept. (now the D.O.T.) and Public Works. While in Streets and Traffic, he had the privilege of working with residents and downtown business interests to develop traffic and parking plans that would accommodate the special needs of both the community and the San Jose Arena (HP Pavilion). In Public Works, Calvin has served in many capacities: as a project and section manager of the Sanitary Sewer Section, section manager of the Roads and Bridges Section, and currently section manager of the Utilities and Storm Section.
Joe is a licensed Civil Engineer in the state of California and has a B.S. degree in Civil Engineering from California State University at Chico and a M.S. degree in Civil Engineering from San Jose State University. He has worked in hydraulic engineering consultant companies and also has instructed college courses in hydraulics and fluid mechanics. He started his career with the City of San Jose in 1986. Joe’s areas of specialty include development engineering, hydraulic engineering, hydrology, grading and drainage, and Public Works design and construction.
Dave graduated from San Jose State University with a B.S. degree in Geology. After graduation, Dave worked as a private investigator, and later in the electronics industry growing silicon and gallium arsenide crystals used in semiconductor manufacturing. In 1977, he left Hewlett-Packard for a career with the City of San Jose. Dave's areas of specialty include grading & drainage, hydraulics & hydrology, and Public Works construction.
Dave, a Registered Professional Engineer both in California and the Philippines, holds two degrees - a BS in Civil Engineering (Class of '80) and a BS in Environmental and Sanitary Engineering (Class of '83) - both from Mapua Institute of Technology (Manila, Philippines). Dave got his start with the City back in October 1989 as an Engineering Technician. He specializes in construction management, storm and sanitary sewer designs, and holds the prestigious position of being the best (and only) golfer in the "Storm Section."
Albert graduated from California State Polytechnic University, Pomona with a B.S. degree in Civil Engineering. Prior to joining the City of San Jose in August 2001, he worked both in the private industry and public sector. His background includes residential and commercial surveying, engineering design of sanitary sewer systems and plan reviews for new commercial developments.
A native of San Jose, James graduated from U.C. Davis in 1999 with a B.S. in Geology before joining the City in 2001. His background in earth science, rather than engineering, gives him a unique perspective on how the storm drain system works and how it interacts with the valley's creeks and rivers.
Jos has a B.S. degree in Civil Engineering from Mapua Institute of Technology in Manila, Philippines. Prior to joining the City of San Jose, Jos worked for several Land Surveying companies in Houston, Texas for about 10 years as a draftsman. Then in 2000 Jos moved here to California to be with his parents. Jos started working with the City of San Jose way back in April 2001 with the Neighborhood Automated Speed Compliance Program (NASCOP) at DOT until he transferred here to Public Works on August 16, 2004.
Jeff graduated from Humboldt State University with a B.S. degree in Computer Information Systems and a minor in Business Administration. He has been working for the City of San Jose since September 2001, and has worked with the Architectural Engineering and the Engineering & Construction Services divisions of the Public Works Dept. Jeff's expertise lies with Interactive Application & Website Design and Relational Database Production.
