PERMITS

It is unlawful for any person to conduct any excavation in any Public right-of-way in the City of San José that is under the jurisdiction and control of the Department of Public Works without obtaining from the Engineering Services Utility Section a permit authorizing the excavation. The application to be completed depends on the specifications of the work. Essentially, there are two types of permits, Major and Minor. See the Major-Minor Permit description to clarify.
