SPECIAL FLOOD HAZARD AREA REGULATIONS REVISED
On March 17, 2009, the City Council approved revisions to the City of San Jose’s Special Flood Hazard Area Regulations to abide by the California Department of Water Resources audit recommendations and to adopt the Federal Emergency Management Agency’s new Digital Flood Insurance Rate Maps (DFIRM) as the standard for determining Special Flood Hazard Areas. Some properties will be added to the 100-year flood zone as a result of adoption of the new DFIRMs as of the effective date of May 18, 2009. FLOOD MAPS REVISED
The second phase of the flood map revision that reflects the completion of the Guadalupe River flood protection improvements was issued by the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) and was effective as of October 25, 2006. More information about this map revision is contained in the letters sent out to affected property owners.

If your property is within the revised area and shown on the map as Zone X, you may be eligible for a refund of your current flood insurance policy. See the refund instructions included in the letter you received from the Santa Clara Valley Water District.
