1 Taxiway W Improvements, Phase I
Funded by the Federal Aviation Administration, this project will extend Runway W from Taxiway C to Taxiway D and extend Taxiway D from Runway 30L to Taxiway V. This project will provide an alternative route to the runway for arriving or departing traffic that significantly reduces or eliminates the possibility of general aviation aircraft accidents.

2 Terminal B Baggage Screening Equipment
Funded by the Transportation Security Administration, the new baggage explosive detection systems for the Airport’s new Terminal B includes conveyors that move passengers’ checked bags to an array of automated security screening machines, with additional conveyors to move screened bags for staging for aircraft loading. In addition, the project includes upgrades to the Airport’s electrical power and mechanical systems to support the new equipment.

Economic/Workforce Development

1 WIA-Adult Program
Funded by the Department of Labor's Workforce Investment Act, these Recovery Act funds will be used by work2future to provide job placement, counseling and training services for 1,500 to 2,000 adult and dislocated worker clients through 6/30/11.  work2future would work with employers, as well as community colleges, San Jose State University and other training providers  to develop customized and on-the-job training programs for new and incumbent workers in such areas as clean technology, health care, bioscience, and nanotechnology.

3 WIA-Youth Program
Funded by the Department of Labor's Workforce Investment Act, these Recovery Act funds will be used by work2future to augment current youth services by funding a Summer Jobs for Youth Program that will serve an estimated 1,000-1,200 youth (between the ages of 15-24) from June to September 2009.  Program will include linking youth with public sector employers and non-profits.

4 WIA-Rapid Response Program
Funded by the Department of Labor's Workforce Investment Act, these Recovery Act funds will be used to defray costs of required and allowable activities such as assisting workers to quickly return to productive positions in the labor force, assisting employers to explore alternatives for layoffs, providing counseling workshops on financial assistance and career counseling services.

1 Programmable LED Streetlights
Funded by the Department of Energy's Energy Efficiency and Conservation Block Grant, these Recovery Act funds will be used to replace approximately 1,500 Low Pressure Sodium streetlights with programmable LED lights equipped with advanced controls and communications to maximize energy efficiency and savings.

2 Energy Efficiency Improvements on City Facilities
Funded by the Department of Energy's Energy Efficiency and Conservation Block Grant, these Recovery Act funds will be used to install cost-effective energy efficiency measures (HVAC, lighting, variable frequency drives and retro-commissioning) at city facilities which have high energy costs and have been identified as good candidates for priority retrofits.

3 Municipal Solar Programs
Funded by the Department of Energy's Energy Efficiency and Conservation Block Grant, these Recovery Act funds will be used to install solar hot water systems at fire stations, conduct solar and energy efficiency audits and fund technical assistance related to the City's Solar Program in project identification, design/build processes, project engineering financing options, proposal and contract development services for the installation of solar electric, solar hot water and energy efficiency projects.

Funded by the Department of Energy's Solar America Cities Grant, these Recovery Act funds will be used to support seven solar projects that will make it easier and more cost effective for residents to install solar on their homes, train disadvantaged youth for jobs in the growing solar industry and help residents learn about solar options.

1 Clean Tech Careers Fund/Green Business Equipment Program
Funded by the Department of Housing and Urban Development's Community Development Block Grant, these Recovery Act funds will provide a funding mechanism for capital equipment costs to 3 green technology companies expanding or relocating to San Jose.  Funding will open opportunities to individuals most impacted by the recession due to job loss, provide investment capital necessary to increase economic and energy efficiency by creating or implementing new and emerging technology.

2 Moffat-Liberty Storm Drain Improvement
Funded by the Department of Housing and Urban Development's Community Development Block Grant, this Recovery Act funded project will consist of the installation of new storm drain laterals, inlets, ADA curb cuts, driveways and ~1,300 linear feet of sidewalk, curb and gutter within a low-moderate income area of Alviso in far northern San Jose and address much-needed infrastructure needs in the area.

Funded by the Department of Housing and Urban Development's Community Development Block Grant, this Recovery Act funded project will result in a 2-year public service project that will provide job training and employment services to 70 individuals, including 28 non-violent ex-offenders, 30 homeless persons and 12 youth recently emancipated from the foster care system.  Project promotes self-sufficiency and gainful employment.

6 Homeless Prevention Financial Assistance & Housing Relocation Svcs.
Funded by the Department of Housing and Urban Development's Homeless Prevention and Rapid Re-Housing Program, these Recovery Act funds will provide funding to agencies that currently have programs which provide financial assistance and case management services to San Jose homeless and at-risk residents, especially those affected by the economic crisis. Special emphasis will be placed on programs that seek to prevent homelessness, such as one-time rent to prevent eviction and rental guarantee program.

1 SBWR Phase 1C Facility Improvements
Funded by the Bureau of Reclamation's Water and Water-related Resources Grant, these Recovery Act funds provides partial funding for the construction of up to 15 miles of recycled water pipeline and related facility improvements as part of the South Bay Water Recycling Program.  This project would increase by 2,400 acre-feet per year (AFY) the amount of recycled water distributed by the SBWRP and further reduce the reliance on scare potable water.
