Draft Ordinance on Indoor Use of Recycled Water
in San José

The San José City Council is considering initiating the development of an ordinance requiring dual plumbing as part of new building design for sites near the recycled water pipeline, and for large building designs planned throughout the City. At a future meeting, the San José City Council will consider accepting the recommendation from the Transportation and Environment Committee, requesting the City Attorney to begin drafting an indoor recycled water use ordinance.  After additional public review, the draft ordinance would eventually be considered as an addition to the City’s Municipal Code at a later Council date. Should the City adopt an indoor recycled water use ordinance, it would follow similar environmental stewardship programs in the cities of Palo Alto, Redwood City and San Francisco. For additional information or to send comments, contact Martina Davis (martina.davis@sanjoseca.gov) at (408) 363-4716.

We will post council dates and future focus groups on this web page as they develop.
