City Council Unanimously Approves new Bike Plan November 19, 2009
After receiving a staff report and public comments in support of the plan, the San Jose City Council unanimously approved Bike Plan 2020. The new bike plan adopts a vision of building a community where bicycling is safe, convenient and commonplace. The plan identifies five broad Goals – including completion of a 500 mile bikeway network – as well as several individual Strategies and Actions to accomplish the Goals. City Committee to Review Draft Bike Plan at Public Meeting 11-2-09
The City of San Jose is in the final stages of developing a citywide Bike Plan. Before the draft plan goes to City Council for final approval, it will first be reviewed by the City Council’s Transportation & Environment (T&E) Committee on November 2, 2009. To view the current draft Bike Plan, click on links below. The T&E agenda showing this item should be posted in late October at http://www.sanjoseca.gov/clerk/CommitteeAgenda/TE/TE.asp Look here in late November for information on the final City Council hearing, planned for December.

Draft Bike Plan Released for Public Comment (7-30-09) *** Public Meeting 8-6-09
The City of San Jose has released a draft Bike Plan for public comment. The public comment period runs July 30, 2009 through August 27, 2009. Public comments may be emailed to bike.ped@sanjoseca.gov. Additionally, you may provide comments at a Bike Plan public workshop to be held Thursday, August 6, 2009, from 6pm-7.30pm at San Jose City Hall, Wing Room W120, 200 E. Santa Clara Street. Bike racks are available outside the 4th Street entrance to the City Hall wing.
During September 2009, comments will be reviewed and a final bike plan will be prepared for submission to city council. If you’d like to receive updates on this project, send your email address to bike.ped@sanjoseca.gov

Join us for one of the following two public workshops on updating the City of San Jose’s Bike Master Plan.

Wednesday, January 14, 2009, 6.30pm-8.00pm, Alum Rock Youth Center, 137 N. White Rd, Community Room

Tuesday, January 20, 2009, 6.00pm-7.30pm, Southside Community Center, 5585 Cottle Rd, Rooms 8-9

This is the first step in updating the city’s eight-year-old Bike Plan, summarized in the following General Plan documents
