Citation Processing and Adjudication (On-Street) When a parking citation is issued, it must be paid or contested within 21 days. As a courtesy, if a citation has not been paid or contested, a reminder notice will be mailed to the registered owner of the vehicle after 15 days. To Pay a Citation
To Contest a Citation Citations may be contested in writing, by telephone or by appearing in person at the Office of Parking Violations at the address above. When requesting an initial review, please be prepared to describe why the citation is invalid or why it should be dismissed, and provide any documentation that supports this request. Request should be mailed to: City of San José, P.O. Box 11023 San José, CA 95103-1023 Citations that are not paid or contested within the above timelines will incur additional penalties and will no longer be eligible for contesting. *Click here
