Parking Compliance & Enforcement

The City of San José enforces posted parking regulations on a Citywide basis in an effort to improve compliance with these regulations. Parking may be prohibited for safety reasons, such as near a crosswalk or areas designated No Stopping Any Time.

There may be limits on the amount of time a vehicle may park to support the needs of businesses, or parking may be reserved for a special group, such as individuals with disabilities.

When vehicles are parked in violation of a posted regulation, a parking citation may be issued.Visit the Parking Regulations page to learn more about common parking violations and tips on how to avoid parking citations.

Parking Compliance provides enforcement coverage for meter zones, time zones, freight and passenger loading zones, no parking/stopping zones, disabled parking spaces, residential permit parking zones, and fire hydrants. In addition, support service is also provided to enforce parking restrictions during special events, or scheduled street maintenance or cleaning.

If you have any questions regarding city of San José parking regulations or would like to make a service request, contact the City of San José, Department of Transportation, Parking Compliance.
