City Seeks Input from San José Residents on Streets
and Transportation Maintenance Conditions

Read the letter from Mayor Chuck Reed to residents of San Jose regarding the Transportation Maintenance Master Plan project.

The City of San José is embarking upon an important effort to identify community priorities related to the maintenance of our streets and transportation system, and your participation is critical to the success of this effort.

The City's transportation system has over 2,300 miles of streets, 300,000 street trees, sidewalks, almost 900 traffic signals and 59,000 street lights, in addition to other street assets. Current estimates indicate that $460 million will be needed to fix the transportation maintenance backlog, with another $23-29 million needed annually to keep our streets and related infrastructure in good condition over the long term.

In developing the Master Plan, the City is asking residents to provide feeback on the following:

1. What street and transportation assets that the City maintains are most important to fix?
2. What types of alternate funding sources would you consider supporting to fix them, if any?

Residents are invited to take a moment to fill out this online survey to assist us in this effort.

In addition, San José residents are invited to attend any one of 10 community meetings to discuss these issues, identify their priorities, and possible funding strategies to address backlog of needs.
