Common Pest Problems - Aphids

Summer provides an opportunity to get outside and enjoy all the wonders that nature provides like lush green broadleaf trees. Unfortunately, we aren't the only ones who are taking advantage of the change in weather and increased tree growth. Many insects and diseases also try to take advantage of the abundance that nature has to offer at this time of year. One insect in particular that comes to mind is the aphid. Aphids are small pear-shaped insects that come in a variety of sizes and colors that usually feed in dense groups on leaves or stems. While aphids are usually harmless, they can become problematic in large numbers. For more information on aphids and possible treatment options visit the Univeristy of California IPM website
