April 6, 4:30 PM - 8:30 PM @ Japantown starting at the intersection of 5th and Jackson Streets. Parking will be limited. Alternative modes of transportation encouraged.
Japantown Immersive returns on Saturday, April 6. Last year’s wildly successful launch of this event in honor of San José Taiko’s 45th Anniversary celebrated the artists of Japantown. This year’s Japantown Immersive celebrates the artist in everyone. The 2019 event is presented by San José Taiko as part of the Creative License Ambassador program of the City of San José Office of Cultural Affairs. The event will feature hands-on experiences designed by the creative community in Japantown to bring out everyone’s inner artist. Some of the many highlights include: DIY crafts with artists Genevieve Santos of Le Petit Elefant, San Jose Made, and Corinne Okada Takara, karaoke on the San José Jazz BoomBox hosted by 7 Bamboo, a Japantown flashmob dance with The Get Down Dance Studios team, painting with The Arsenal’s community mural, play the Japanese shamisen with Kyle Abbott, compose your very own taiko work with San Jose Taiko, and many more opportunities to unleash one’s creative side.
