[ARCHIVED] UPDATE #3: PG&E Power Shutoff in San José

Today, October 10, at 4:30 am, the City of San José released an updated flash report on the status of the Pacific Gas & Electric (PG&E) power shutoff that began overnight in the Alum Rock, Evergreen, and Almaden areas. Approximately 20,000 customers have been affected. The City has implemented its Power Vulnerability Plan, and the Emergency Operations Center (EOC) remains fully activated.

High winds and low humidity are forecast through noon today. The City of San José has proclaimed a local state of emergency, and dispatched Fire and Parks, Recreation and Neighborhood Services staff to medical care facilities and medical baseline customers who PG&E has not been able to reach about the power shutoff. PG&E has indicated a full power restoration could take up to five days. For the latest status on outages, please check PG&E's
event map.

Visit the City's website to get additional tips, and past and present flash reports. To stay up-to- date with City of San José information, sign up for City email lists and emergency alerts at http://sanjoseca.gov/index.aspx?NID=218.

The City has created a helpful resource flyer along with an emergency preparation guide to help residents prepare for this power shutoff.
