Tasty Tuesday: Daily Recommendations for Recreation

The Department of Parks, Recreation and Neighborhood Services will be providing recommended activities to do within the comfort of your home through the Virtual Recreation Center.

LIVE VTA ACCESS paratransit Webinar

Tuesday, 5/9 at 9:00 a.m. 

VTA ACCESS paratransit service is provided to eligible individuals with disabilities who cannot use conventional accessible bus and light rail transit service due to their physical, visual or cognitive disabilities. During this event, we will provide information on the paratransit service, the eligibility process and assist in answering questions. More information on how to join here

LIVE Laughter Yoga Tuesday, 5/9 at 6:30 p.m.

Join certified Laughter Yoga Teacher, Carole as she leads you through a variety of Laughter Yoga exercises. And yes, some of the exercises are silly, but silly, especially during a time like this, can be beneficial to our outlook as we "shelter in place". Let's Laugh for the Health of It!"

Chef Deuki Hong Makes Avocado Miso Toast

Need some inspiration in the kitchen? Deuki Hong, Executive Chef at the Asian Art Museum in San Francisco will teach you how to craft a delicious Avocado Miso Toast.
Molly Kitamura Makes Parasite's Ram-Don Inspired by the Korean thriller Parasite, Molly Kitamura (Tattoo Artist and Author of Knives and Needles) puts her own spin on the film's iconic dish, Ram-Don.

When practicing home isolation, mental health and communication are vital. Call friends and family regularly to hear another person's voice and stay engaged in relationships.

  • Virtually Hang Out with Friends and Family: Use Skype, FaceTime, Zoom or other platforms to get together with friends digitally.
  • Watch a Film with Friends: With Watch2gether, movie nights can continue as you watch videos online with friends in real time.
  • Support Local Restaurants: You can support your favorite local restaurants by ordering out! Many establishments remain open for take-out or delivery. Visit delivery websites to see which San José restaurants are still cooking savory food.
  • Covia: Whether you like art or zoology, music or meditation, there is a program for you. Join other seniors for a 30 minute phone program to talk, discuss your interest, and simply socialize with each other. Workshops offered in English and Spanish.
