Welcome Back Picnickers!

San José is home to nine sprawling regional parks and over 200 neighborhood parks, many with reservable picnic areas for small or large group gatherings.

Located in some of the valley’s most picturesque surroundings, their natural environments are a perfect background for any special occasion. Given the large number of choices available, park staff can help you navigate our park system and find the best location for your event.

Activities That Require Additional Permitting

An event involving any of the following is considered a special event, and requires the submission of a SPECIAL EVENT APPLICATION.

Advertising that the event is open to the public
Amplified sound (more than a battery-operated low wattage speaker)
Needing to confirm date/time/location more than 6 months in advance
Selling of food, alcohol or merchandise
Selling of tickets to the event
Special set ups of stages, tents, barricades fences or other items

This 740-acre park offers nine (9) reservable picnic areas for groups up to 300. The picnic areas are located among a variety of settings throughout the park. Enjoy activities such as hiking, bicycling, volleyball, and horseshoe.

*During the summer the park may prohibit fires and barbecues, or the park will close due to fire hazards. Please have a back up plan.

Rustic Lands is a large secluded area with two water faucets, a gazebo and horseshoe pits nearby. This site is perfect for day camps, scout groups or large family/corporate groups.
