City Teens Connect to Nature at San Jose’s Family Camp at Yosemite
Citywide Teen Program participants from Seven Trees, Mayfair, Bascom, Roosevelt, and Evergreen community centers connected to nature with a 3-day and 2-night stay at Family Camp at Yosemite from July 16-18. For many of the 25 teens this was a first-time experience. They participated in night hikes, swimming, team building activities, and roasting s'mores while completely unplugged from technology. Teens leaned new ways to be active, stay healthy, and build friendships. This trip was made possible through a collaboration between PRNS Teen Programs and the Youth Connection Foundation (YCF). The YCF vision is to ensure every kid, no matter their social or economic status, has access to recreation, art, cultural and educational opportunities. They fundraise to support sponsorships that offer an alternative way to engage, build and strengthen relationships for youth and increase their community engagement.
