FLASH REPORT #50 - COVID-19 Mitigation and Response
The following is information about the City of San José’s response to slow the spread of the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) and reduce the number of people infected.

Updates on City of San José Services and/or Operations
- San Jose Parks Closed Over the Holiday Weekend: To prevent overcrowding, San Jose regional parks and parking lots will be closed on Saturday, April 11 and Sunday, April 12. Neighborhood parks will remain open, (with the exception of certain parking lots) however, gatherings such as egg hunts are prohibited. Residents must follow Santa Clara County’s physical distancing orders, avoid gathering or engaging in group activities, and comply with amenity closures. Everyone has a duty to stop the spread of coronavirus. To see a full list of closures, visit bit.ly/prnscancellations. Non-compliance with park closures and the County order to maintain a six-foot distance from others and stay out of closed areas, can be reported to Park Rangers by calling 3-1-1. Parks may close indefinitely if there are group gatherings, overcrowding, or non-compliance with the County Order.

- Public Health Public Service Announcements (PSAs): A number of community leaders shared the importance of continuing to stay home and practicing physical distancing when outdoors in social media videos in multiple languages. Watch the videos on Twitter: Chief Sapien, San Jose Fire Department (English); Park Ranger Lucia Wade (English); Girmay Adhanom, Director of the Eritrean Community Center (Tigrigna); El Piolin (Spanish); and San Jose Sharks Captain Logan Couture (English).
- Join Vice-Mayor Chappie Jones for Storytime with SJPL: As part of the Silicon Valley Strong effort to connect the community to resources and information, Mayor Sam Liccardo and the City of San Jose Council have partnered with San José Public Library to offer a weekly series of storytimes. Families are invited to watch tomorrow’s storytime with Vice-Mayor Chappie Jones at 2 p.m. on Facebook @ViceMayorChappieJones, @SamLiccardo1 or @SJPLEarlyEd. Updates from County of Santa Clara
- New Public Health Order: The County of Santa Clara Health Officer, Dr. Sara Cody, issued a new order today requiring entities and individuals to report large inventories of personal protective equipment (PPE) and ventilators, in order to understand what supplies currently exist and to plan for a potential hospital surge. Reporting is due by 11:59 p.m. on April 15 via an online survey. Read the Press Release and Full County Order.
