  • Enhancing Worker Safety – ESD Receives 1,000 Cloth Face Coverings: The City of San José Environmental Services Department (ESD) received 1,000 cloth face coverings for use by essential staff at the San José-Santa Clara Regional Wastewater Facility and San José Municipal Water. The May 5 delivery is part of a joint effort between the Federal Emergency Management Agency, the US Environmental Protection Agency, the National Water and Wastewater Agency Response Network, and the American Water Works Association to provide personal protective equipment to essential workers who provide critical community services. The California Water and Wastewater Agency Response Network (CalWARN) is distributing the reusable and washable cloth masks to agencies across the state. The cloth face coverings support worker safety and enhance the current inventory of non-surgical rated masks for everyday use of essential workers in ESD.
