San José Public Library and Happy Hollow Park & Zoo Unite to Promote Literacy
To help launch the Happy Hollow Park & Zoo "Spring into Reading" initiative, the Library’s Early Education Team has provided upwards of 800 picture books, board books and beginning reader titles about animals in English and Spanish. These titles will be placed in five Story Station towers spread throughout the park. In addition to the Story Stations, the Library is also leading story times at the park’s Discovery Meadow stage three times a week on Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday at 10:30 a.m. Nearly 160 families have attended the story times at the park since the launch of the Story Stations on May 11. These literacy opportunities will provide families access to excellent and educational reading materials to learn more about the library and its resources while exploring the park and zoo.
