To help build the Department of Parks, Recreation and Neighborhood Services (PRNS) forward and standardize the knowledge, skills, and abilities of groundsworkers and maintenance assistants, 100 recently hired and veteran employees participated in an all-day training on April 19. The Groundsworkers and Maintenance Assistants (GWaMA) training included interactive sessions on weed identification, small equipment maintenance, health and safety, turf management and more. As part of a two-year pilot program, the next GWaMA training will take place in the Fall 2018. For more information, please contact Justin Long, PRNS Deputy Director, at (408) 793-5579.
