VACC Testing1“After waiting just 45 minutes in line, getting tested for COVID-19 was a quick, safe and easy procedure,” says Hoang Truong, who was tested for the virus at the Vietnamese American Community Center (VACC) on the last day of testing at the site.

The @vaccsj joined the @county.of.santa.clara efforts, becoming a testing location for residents seeking a COVID-19 test in our community. From Tuesday, June 30, until Thursday, July 2, the VACC saw 2,574 people walk in and take the test. In fact, the VACC was the second most visited testing location in the county, right behind the @SAPCenter in downtown San José. Converting the VACC to a testing site was a joint project of the @CityofSanJose and @sccpublichealth to ensure everyone has access to health resources in #SiliconValleyStrong.

Truong, who was the 969th person tested on the VACC’s last day of service, described his experience as very professional and accommodating. The process was very simple. After waiting in line, he was required to fill out an intake form (available in English, Spanish and Vietnamese), which asked for contact information. After the test was administered, Truong had just a three day wait to receive his results via email.

Everyone seeking a Coronavirus test at any site in the county must adhere to Santa Clara County public health guidelines, such as wearing a face mask covering at all times and maintaining a 6-foot distance from other participants. The VACC and the testing volunteers at the site followed strict public sanitizing rules and procedures for all equipment and the community center.

VACC Testing

“The Department of Parks, Recreation and Neighborhood Services has stepped up a significant amount to support our community’s needs,” says Pauline Khek, who has worked with @SJParksandRec the last four years.

From food and necessities distribution, to its role as a COVID-19 testing location, we thank our #PRNSBest staff at the VACC as they continue to serve our community no matter the hurdles we face.
