“Our community needs the calm, consoling presence of Catholic Charities now more than ever in this time of heightened anxiety. Being grounded in our faith and in our community, we remain steadfast in our care for those who are poor and our most vulnerable neighbors,” says Gregory R. Kepferle, the CEO of Catholic Charities of Santa Clara County (CCSCC).

Catholic Charities of Santa Clara County have been providing needed meals to the community since April.

Catholic Charities of Santa Clara County has stepped up to meet the call of need from our residents. By pivoting their programs as COVID-19 began impacting the #SiliconValleyStrong community, the CCSCC focused on providing direct support to families who needed essential supplies, including access to food.

The partnership that Catholic Charities of Santa Clara County has created with the City of San José, Franklin-McKinley School District, First 5 of Santa Clara County and Second Harvest of Silicon Valley facilitated a collaborative response to the needs of the community. Through this collaboration, over a million meals have been given to 26,000 families and 91,000 individuals at three FRC locations in Franklin-McKinley School District.

Providing families with needed diapers, baby wipes, and formula has helped some of our youngest and most vulnerable residents.

Through another CCSCC programs, the Children’s Initiative Family Resource Centers (FRC) has been able to remain open and develop into distribution sites where families could access necessities such as food, diapers and formula. Thanks to the cooperation with FIRST 5 of Santa Clara County, they have been able to distribute over 4,000 diaper kits, formula and activity kits.

With the quick mobilization of all our partners, local organizations could respond to the needs of families immediately and efficiently.

Local organizations and essential employees risk their lives every day, ensuring our community stays fed and afloat during these challenging times. “You do not have to go through this alone; your community is here to help,” adds Sona Grover, the program manager for the three Family Resource Centers located in the Franklin-McKinley School District.

CCSCC will continue to help the community when it's needed most.
