Implementation of Guadalupe Oak Grove Park Vegetation Management Plan
The Department of Parks, Recreation and Neighborhood Services’ Volunteer Management Unit hosted the first volunteer work day at Guadalupe Oak Grove Park on April 7. During this first event, volunteers identified and marked hundreds of baby blue oaks. They also removed over five truckloads of green debris and invasive weeds. Future volunteer work days are scheduled for July and October with the goal of protecting and maintaining the native oaks; thus preserving and enhancing wildlife habitat. The 50-acre park has one of the last large tracts of deciduous oak savanna and woodland in Santa Clara County.
