This Friday, October 16, will be the last day to participate in the San José residents survey. Residents can help shape the future of the city by completing an online survey found at http://www.sanjoseca.gov/2020residentsurvey.
The San José City Residents Survey will take into account how residents rate their overall quality of life with an indicator of the overall health of a community. This can include opinions about a community’s natural and built environments; the availability of services and amenities; overall feelings about safety or the economic health of the community; and other aspects of life.
City officials have stated they are interested in trends and comparisons and value this research, especially in the annual budget process. This information is important as they strive to improve service delivery.
The survey will also include questions and ratings of characteristics as they relate to San José. Participation is encouraged for all residents to have their voices heard.
The survey will be based on topics such as:
- Overall health and wellness opportunities in San Jose
- Emergency preparedness (services that prepare the community for natural disasters or other emergency situations)
- Openness and acceptance of the community toward people of diverse backgrounds
- Safety in your neighborhood.
- Residents’ connection and engagement with their community
- Overall quality of parks and recreation opportunities
This survey is completely anonymous, and available in English, Spanish, Vietnamese, and Chinese. No personal information will be collected or shared.
Results will be included in the City Auditor’s Annual Report on City Services, which will be released in December and presented to the City Council in January. This is the tenth year the National Research Center has conducted this survey. Previous survey results, along with past Services Reports, can be found at: http://www.sanjoseca.gov/servicesreport.
