“World Central Kitchen is very conscious of the limited meal options available for people in need during the pandemic,” says Josh Balser, World Central Kitchen’s (WCK) Director of Relief System. “Through our partnership with Sourcewise and their regular wellness checks on participants, we are able to best meet the needs of our community members during this difficult time.”

To date, World Central Kitchen’s Great Plates Delivered (GPD) program has served over 300,000 meals to our community since early May. Our #SiliconValleyStrongHeroes works with various local partners to ensure all program participants are able to receive two meals five days of the week with high-quality food.

Delivering fresh, nourishing meals five days a week is a tremendous logistical challenge. And WCK found a way to meet that challenge.

Several months ago, WCK partnered with a new delivery service with a fleet of 30 drivers dedicated to delivering the meals from nine different restaurants around the county to over 1,300 participants.

The new service was important to the participant experience, which has always been WCK’s primary concern. By working with a more scalable and custom delivery platform like Hungry (delivery service), the GPD program could eliminate missed deliveries and increase the number of restaurants in the program.

WCK has been able to adapt to the crisis and the needed response required in our community. Through a constant flow of accurate information between their enrollment partner, Sourcewise, and their logistics partner, Hungry, WCK ensures no one misses a meal.
