#SILICONVALLEYSTRONGHEROES CATHOLIC CHARITIES OF SANTA CLARA COUNTY RING IN THE NEW YEAR DISTRIBUTING FOOD TO THOSE IN NEED

“Catholic Charities of Santa Clara County recognizes that many families and members in our community are facing struggles they may have never faced ever before in their lives,” says Ana Penalva, Program Manager for Catholic Charities of Santa Clara County (CCSCC) Home Delivery and Parish Distribution. “We are in for the long haul and will ensure everyone can receive a meal to enjoy any time of the year.”
Catholic Charities of Santa Clara County (CCSCC) serves and advocates for individuals and families in need, especially those living in poverty. Our #SiliconValleyStrongHeroes work to help all people in need regardless of their gender, age, race, religion and more. On average, CCSCC serves around 2,000 participants a week in various functions such as food resources and critical supplies.
Due to the impacts of COVID-19, CCSCC has seen a rise in need across all their distribution sites, especially around the holidays. With this in mind, our #SiliconValleyStrongHeroes are ringing in the New Year with planned distributions ahead, including the first one of the year in San José.
On Saturday, January 2, from 12:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m., Santa Teresa Parish at 794 Calero Ave, San José, will be distributing food boxes for our community. These food distributions include boxes filled with nutritious vegetables and fruits, healthy proteins, grains/wheat and dairy products.
These services were set to end this year on December 31. However, with community and local government support, CCSCC has extended its program to serve thousands of people in need until March 2021.
With organizations like CCSCC, our community will continue to be supported as we say goodbye to a very challenging and unique year. As a community, we have moved forward by the dedication and hard work of people and groups like our #SiliconValleyStrongHeroes.
