#PRNSBEST ARCADIA BALLPARK STAFF HOSTS COMMUNITY WALK-THROUGH

RESIDENTS GET FIRST LOOK AT SAN JOSÉ’S NEWEST SPORTS FACILITY

When the first batter stepped into the batter’s box and the pitcher made the first pitch, the Arcadia Ballpark opened to members of the community who heard the distinctive sounds of batted balls and balls popping into leather gloves.

The Arcadia staff hosted a Community-Walkthrough event this past weekend where residents and their families were invited to get a first look at the all-new Arcadia Ballpark in San José. It included exhibition games featuring the Vintage League, a senior-oriented group on one field and a youth league on another field.

This event marked the grand opening of the 14.5 acre sports facility, where guests had full access to its many amenities, including four lighted natural grass fields, a mini synthetic ballfield, shaded stadium armchair seating, a sports-themed playground, a hot concessions grill and restrooms. During the event, guests watched the games, there were on field activities for youth, children played on the playground, and featured an ice cream giveaway.

The ballpark is a result of Measure P, a $228 million dollar bond approved by San José voters in 2000 that provided funding for constructing new recreational sports facilities. The Arcadia Development Co. donated the 14.5-acre site for the proposed sport facility to provide active recreation opportunities to the community.

“Arcadia Ballpark is an ideal setting for recreation leagues, permitted play, and tournaments of all sizes,” said Joe Albayalde, the Park Facility Supervisor. “The opening of this space will allow residents of all ages to engage in fun, healthy recreation and connect with members of their community.”
