THE SAN JOSE COMMUNITY COMES TOGETHER WITH OUR #PRNSBEST VIVA PARKS TEAM’S COMMUNITY BUILDING EVENTS

Community events are an integral part in connecting members of the community, promoting pride in one’s city, and offering quality recreation to our residents in San José.

Viva Parks is a series of free events focused on health and wellness resources, physical activity, and community. They aim to connect people to people, build community pride, transform parks with positive programming, increase park usage, and bring resources to the neighborhood.

The #PRNSBest Viva Parks Team works hard to ensure that these community events are successful and that residents have access to positive, engaging, and fun experiences in their local parks. These PRNS employees are responsible for coordinating the events, contacting vendors and community organizations, ensuring there will be ample space for all guests and making sure residents in attendance have all their questions answered.

While multiple PRNS locations participated in this exciting event, including Seven Trees Community Center, this week’s #PRNSBest Viva Parks Neighborhood Events Team held a special National Night Out last Tuesday, August 3, for residents and families at Emma Prusch Farm Park.

San José residents, families and City staff joined to celebrate the highly anticipated NNO, an annual event that focuses on building stronger communities and promoting police-community partnerships to make our neighborhoods safer and more caring places to live.

The event was held from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. and offered plenty of activities for the whole family, including live music, taco trucks, and recreation for all ages, including a rock climbing wall and multiple jump houses! Numerous community organizations were also in attendance to provide information and engage with residents.

Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, many families in our City have faced hardships during this past year and beyond. Events like Viva Parks Neighborhood and National Night Out are crucial to maintaining community spirit and reminding the residents of San José that we are in this together!

Thank you to the #PRNSBest Viva Parks team for your contribution to the success of this special event.

The ActivateSJ Strategic Plan is the City of San José's Department of Parks, Recreation and Neighborhood Services’ (PRNS) plan to maintain, improve and expand our facilities, programs and services. The plan guides how we care for and develop a diverse park system, and an abundance of recreation programs and services for all in San José.

Public spaces such as our parks, community centers and sports fields offer opportunities for family, friends and community members to come together and connect. Within these places of play, exploration and connection our residents can make memories that last a lifetime.
