New San José 311 Features Make Reporting Vehicle Concerns Easier, More Efficient
Significant update improves the web and app customer experience for a variety of vehicle complaints
SAN JOSE, Calif. (Apr. 11, 2024) – Reporting vehicle concerns through San José 311 is now easier and more efficient, thanks to the launch of new features and tools called Vehicle Concerns (previously Abandoned Vehicles).
The features now allow the public to anonymously report a variety of vehicle concerns including safety and quality-of-life issues involving vehicles such as non-operational vehicles parked on public streets, cars parked for an excessive length of time, trash and sewage concerns tied to vehicles, vehicles displaying expired registration beyond six months and more. The San José 311 system automatically routes the concern to the appropriate department or team to expedite the vehicle tagging and removal process.
“The addition of these new features will help meet our Council Focus Area of cleaning up our neighborhoods,” said City Manager Jennifer Maguire. “I am grateful for the One Team effort from many City departments: Information Technology, Transportation, Planning, Building, and Code Enforcement, Housing, Parks, Recreation and Neighborhood Services, and Police.”
Residents, workers and visitors are encouraged to download the San José 311 app for their mobile devices or visit
https://311.sanjoseca.gov to try the new service using a web browser. Spanish and Vietnamese updates to the Vehicle Concerns feature are coming soon. The public can also dial 3-1-1 from a landline or mobile phone within city limits to report a wide variety of non-emergency concerns.
“In the capitol of Silicon Valley, we’re always innovating — and our San José 311 service is no different,” said Mayor Matt Mahan. “Our residents want a safe and clean San José, and with our new Vehicle Concerns features, it’s now easier than ever to be a part of the solution."
